Intermittent Fasting.....not a diet, It's a lifestyle!
My journey to Intermittent fasting;
It must be about 5 years ago when my husband and myself met each in the bathroom, one leaving the shower, the other on the way in.
Now, this was nothing unusual but that time we said to each other what we were thinking for some time already..................we both need to lose weight!
From there on we changed what we ate mainly, cutting down on extra's ,fat and carbs.
A huge change because for some reason these had been added to our menu slowly but surely, but no more, we decided.
The result was good, we both lost several pounds, feeling much better , making it easier to exercise.
Definitely a win-win situation.
A stand still:
I think we all have experienced the moment when a diet loses it's magic touch.
For us; we maintained our lower weight but both felt this was definitely not our ideal weight yet.
What to do....what to do.....
Food in our family is connected to getting together, enjoying a meal, glass of wine.
No way were we going to go on a diet that would limit us in sharing these meals with each other, otr making preparing these to a very complicated affair.
Intermittent Fasting:
When the intermittent fasting idea came along at first it was difficult finding objective information about .
Objective as in, not sponsored.......
It sounded very interesting but, as with all new things, research is of the essence.
Now of course, it is a lot easier to find answers to your questions and to decide whether or not this is something you'd like to try.
Since we both work and like regular schedules we opted for the 16-8 hour schedule.
Built it up slowly though to give our bodies time to get used to this new eating schedule.
This was easier than we expected though, what we do notice is when we have a late snack (yes sometimes we do),
we are soooooooo hungry the next morning!
For me the biggest pro's:
1. A very easy to follow lifestyle, I am not counting calories or making complicated shakes
2. Not expensive, many diets use special shakes, supplements
3. You really appreciate food in a better way, breakfast (at 12.00 is like a little party!)
4. Your appetite is under controle, no way can I binge at meal times.
5. It helps me lose that stubborn fat around my middle (if you know what I mean)
All in all we are very satisfied with the intermittent fasting.
This doesn't mean though this is as perfect for you as it is for me!
Please do your research, try it out.
I have added a few interesting articles for you to look at, there are many many more available on the internet, in books etc.
If you have any questions for me just post them on the blog page or send me an email.
Remember I am not a dietician, personal trainer or doctor ( "just a nurse") ;)
Go for it and remember: Eat what you like and like what you eat, take care of yourself................
